What is Masturbation Addiction?
There is no standard definition for over-masturbation or excessive masturbation. Masturbation is considered healthy form of releasing sexual feelings until or unless it starts hampering your daily life.
If masturbation becomes a habit, it’s performed on a daily basis, it hampers the daily emotional, behavioral and psychological functioning of an individual. And leads to emotional and psychological stress which manifests as physical symptoms, it can be determined to be an addiction.
What are the symptoms?
The following are symptoms seen in cases of masturbation becoming addiction. If majority of symptoms are present than a person is suffering from the same:
a. Performed on daily or most of the days of a week
b. Masturbation might be followed by guilt.
c. Constant unsuccessful attempts to stop the habit.
d. Even a minor form of sexual stimulation can lead to the act.
e. An individual spends quality time on daily basis thinking about the same.
f. An individual cannot concentrate on daily tasks as preoccupied with thoughts about the same.
g. An individual postpones or cancels other assignments to be able to perform it.
h. Increased time is spent searching for sexually arousing material.
i. Decreased social interaction because of fear related to the same.
j. Sleep and appetite disturbance are seen due to the stress levels
k. An individual cannot control himself from performing the habit, even thou he is experiencing sleep, appetite and sexual problems due to the same.
