Warning for Satire-Impaired

From Compulsive Masturbation

Compulsive masturbation may frequently cause the person to be late for work, skip work entirely, or miss other activities. Masturbation also keeps alive a persistent and distressing fantasy life. Fantasy may preoccupy the sex addict to the point of his or her being ineffectual in work or play – … This fantasy life, as the disease progresses, may become increasingly destructive and vicious, and can ultimately lead to sadism, masochism, and even homicidal or suicidal ideation.

While most sex addicts hit bottom eventually – however the solitary nature of the compulsive masturbator’s behavior leaves their actions less subject to the direct consequences of other forms of sexual acting out.

The addict engaging in compulsive masturbation seeks therapeutic intervention for help as a last resort, seeking relief from anxiety, obsession, isolation and the inability to seek or maintain healthy intimate relationships.

Some compulsive masturbators do experience consequences through the viewing of inappropriate materials i.e. child pornography or through masturbating in inappropriate places i.e. the workplace or an automobile.

However, the most frequent consequence of compulsive masturbation is a life devoid of intimacy and a life filled with hidden shame.

While some sex addicts compulsively masturbate in a brief, routine fashion, others can act more as binge masturbators. They may find themselves spending hours at a time “lost” in fantasy, porn use and masturbation.

Unlike the routine masturbator, the binge masturbator can lose hours or even days to the internet porn, computer, porn videos and masturbate. They can literally lock themselves up at home, or in motel rooms and disappear into their masturbatory escape.

This type of behavior is not unlikely to result in genital injury due to the amount of time and energy devoted to the masturbation. While usually the injury and pain is not sought for pleasure, the binge compulsive masturbator will not use physical damage as a guide toward stopping or self-care. Instead they will likely continue their sexual activity, even hurting themselves further and bringing about more shame….

Potential negative consequences of masturbation

The capacity to love is reduced (e.g. dissociation of sex from friendship, affection, caring and other normal healthy emotions and traits which help marital relationships). This sexual side becomes, in a sense, dehumanized. Many sex addicts develop also an “alien ego state” (or dark side), whose core is antisocial lust devoid of most values. In time, the “high” obtained from masturbating to pornography becomes more important than real life relationships.

It has been commonly thought by health educators that masturbation has negligible consequences, other than reducing sexual tensions. Moral objections aside, one exception would appear to be in the area of repeatedly masturbating to deviant pornographic imagery, either in memories in the mind or as explicit pornographic stimuli which risks (via conditioning) the acquiring of sexual addictions and/or other sexual pathology. It makes no difference if one is an eminent physician, attorney, minister, athlete, corporate executive, college president, unskilled laborer, or an average 15 year old boy. All can be conditioned into deviancy. The process of masturbatory conditioning is inexorable and does not spontaneously remiss.

Sex addict masturbates chronically until his penis is sore or abraded, until there is no more semen to ejaculate. Or he may masturbate in his car, or in a park or restroom with the hope of being seen. He prefers masturbation over sex with a partner.

These are the risks we run for our masturbator lifestyle. It’s a dirty job, but somebody has to do it.
